HELLO! We are launching a New Blog but first learn how Denise started in Business
Denise Anstey is a British inventor, entrepreneur, and Managing Director of Heartfelt Products, a company known for its custom pet embroidery and innovative designs. Born on April 1, 1964, she has a background marked by creativity and resilience.
In 1998, following a car accident that resulted in a long-standing disability, Denise conceptualized the Slik Stik—a walking stick equipped with lights, an alarm, and red LEDs along the stem. This invention garnered attention and was endorsed by renowned inventor Trevor Baylis OBE. Lord Darzi understands healthcare innovation. He’s renowned globally for pioneering robotic techniques in medical operations and has published more than 1,200 peer-reviewed research papers to our current date. He continues to work as a surgeon whilst specialising in minimally invasive surgery. Lord Darzi of Denham, who was the Health Minister commented on the Slik Stik. Denise saying Denise was the inspiration the NHS needed to follow. She was also commented in The Green Book, Green Gadgets for Dummmies.
In recognition of her innovation, she received the British Female Inventor and Innovator award in 2009. The Slik Stik had a positive impact on individuals worldwide until an unlicensed company began manufacturing it, prompting Denise to petition the UK government for changes in intellectual property laws. Her efforts contributed to the enactment of laws imposing criminal penalties for such infringements .
Beyond her inventions, Denise is passionate about community engagement. She played a role in initiating the North Devon Scrub Hub and the North Devon Covid Quilt Project, supporting healthcare workers and fostering community spirit during challenging times. Her company, Heartfelt Products, reflects her dedication to integrity and continuous learning, offering unique custom pet embroidery on various items.
Denise's professional journey is also documented through her role as a director at Heartfelt Innovations Ltd, established in 2013 . She actively shares her work and insights on social media platforms, including Instagram, where she showcases her award-winning designs and connects with a broader audience .
